one week of coughing to go with a virus that made the round of the house. i think we beat it. Andy declares he does not care for flovent anymore, that it does not help. he said the same think about xopenex. hard to judge what would have happened without. i insisted he does it. but neither did i see dramatic peace effects after xopenex. hope to not need these. but if you need to breath you need to breath my love!

looks like we switched from medco to express scripts
insurance no longer covers xopenex and flovent

they suggest

1. instead of xopenex: proair or ventolin (only one with meter for doses?) which are both albuterol rather than levalbuterol

2. instead of flovent: asmanex, pulmicort, qvar

prednisone side effects

Andy has been on predisone since the urgen care visit 10/26 then started a higher dose 10/30. Over the past days I told him to not do PE at 8:30 outside sicne the air is cold. This is sadly isolating him from his classmates but I hope will bring about a speedier recovery. We started tapering down the prednisone yesterday (5 ml/day for 5 days then 5 ml/every other day).

He complains about stomach and leg pain lateley.

Hope you outgrow this baby!

trick or treating

I let the boy go trick or treating with sis and neighbors, somehow against my better judgement. He coughed for most the way, in spite of the two xopenex puffs. Came home earlier than the rest of the crowd, gave him warm drinks, made him stay in a warm bathroom and gave him his second dose of 10 ml. Looking better now. Sleeping.

He used to sweat a lot during such episodes, he still does - I change him two-three times a night so he does not sleep with wet pajama tops.

These days we also do xopenex once during the night, once early morning , then at least once during the day, probably more than that. For some reason afternoons are worse than morning.

Summary of treatment: start on 30 October, 20 ml daily for 5 days, 10 ml daily for 3 days, 5 ml daily for 3 days (15mg/ml).

(after three days of 10 ml/day did not help much, and was afraid the fourth day of treatment would not do the trick).

Low appetite.

Some hours are good, some are stll intense. Xopenex ams needed, sometime a,ftwr 2 hours. Hurricane expected on monday, windy, and full of beautiful but leaves. Would rather rake...
